  2. P229 "For seventy years, the electricity monopolies in this country had a free ride. This has allowed dirty old coal plants to pump pollution into the air without factoring the environmental damage they do into the cost of doing business. In my mind this is tresspassing on the rights to clean air of all the rest of us who live on this small planet."
Sam Wyly describes the environmental problems of business. It shows that he is an advocate for a clean environment.

  3. pg 229 "That which is commmon to the greatest number has the least care bestowed upon it." That is why in 1997 Sam decided to get to work and become a champion in the clean-air revolution. He decided to open Green Mountain Electricity, a profitable company that offered "clean" electiricty.

  5. I like that Wyly tries for a realistic and eco friendly environment while also promoting success for his business. It's refreshing to see that he's not only thinking about money, but also about the health of our world.

  6. Wyly understands that you can not set the bar too high, or you will always be disappointed in what you have done. If you set goals that you know with hard work you can accomplish than it will instill enough confidence in you too keep your business successful.

  9. Wyly thoroughly stressed setting realistic goals in these chapters. However he did not want to confuse people with setting goals that were too easy to reach. Set goals in which you have to hard for but are achievable. Once attained, one feels accomplished and should be rewarded however new goals need to be set. Aside from goals Wyly tries to be as eco-friendly as possible in his work. This shows Wyly's good heartedness.

  11. Wyly wanted to get across the point of setting goals that challenge you. In order to be successful, you need to push yourself to be the best you can be. Wyly emphasizes the importance of this aspect and is a reason why Wyly is successful

  12. The thing I liked about these chapters were that he said something about setting goals that aren't too high and you know you can reach, but are a little higher then you normally would so you have to work towards your goal.

  13. I liked that in these chapters he talked about not setting your goals to high so that there easier to achieve. The higher that you set your goals then the harder they are to achieve.

  14. Don't go after something knowing that it might fail. Go after something knowing you can and will achieve that something. Also don't let yourself down keep going for that goal if you miss.

  16. In these chapters Sam Wyly says to make realistic goals and to set the bar where you can achieve your goals. In our society today people to often set standards for themselves that they could never hope to achieve. Being down to earth is necessary in business today rather than being off the wall.

  17. One of Mr. Wylys big points in this chapter is to set achievable goals and then set higher ones once you reach them. For example dont aim to be the biggest suplier in the country aim to be the biggest in your state and go on from their. Set goals that are reachable yet still challenging and you will ind yourself working hard to reach them

  19. Through the chapters Mr. Wyly mentions that the key to making goals for yourself is to set them as high as possible while still keeping the goals in a realistic perspective or achievable. I agree with Wyly, to many people now a-days are told they can do anything they want with life but end up setting completely unreasonable / unachievable goals to make their way there. Goals should be achievable but still with high standards that way one can work their way up to the overall goal.
