I enjoyed reading this book, it gave many examples and quotes that relate to business. He outlined his journey from an idea into transforming businesses to becoming a billionaire. Glad I had a chance to read and learn from Mr. Wyly.
I found the book to be an interesting read. It was a good viewpoint on becoming an entreprenuer. I was able to learn about the hardships from creating one's own business. However, through these troubles, Sam Wyly was able to become a successful entreprenuer. This book shows much more detail of entreprenuership.
I liked the book because it gave me insight into the process of running and managing a successful business. I liked how he didn't only talk about his business dealings, but also talked extensively about his home life and how that influenced his business.
Wyly shows how personal growth stems from being your own best friend and supporter, and staying true to yourself. This was a very powerful psychological lesson. His stories of outstanding success were fun to read about, however the book left me with little to no understanding of how he achieved what he did.
Wyly talks about his success and what he accomplished. It was fun to read about his personal life and what he went through to be a successful entrepreneur. It is a great book to give advice and help up and coming entrepreneurs to head in the right direction.

The book was a little lengthy and got bland however Wyly's personal story of how he achieved success and wealth with only limited resources was inspiring. I couldn't imagine turning 1,000 dollars in my pocket to billions
I enjoyed this book very much. I felt that it gave us great insight on how to be an entrepreneur and about Wyly's life. He also gave the readers some tricks of the trade that he feels are key in achieving anything in life.
This book was inspiring to me I don't know how are person can turn 1,000 dollars into billions. The book was interesting because it showed how he succeeded and failed while becoming a billionaire.
It was nice to learn about the process of working through a business, successes and failures. It was interesting to hear about what tactics succeeded and which failed. It was refreshing to see that he was able to be successful with the little resources that he had. Although this book was very informative, I can say that it did get a little dry at points and difficult to read due to the lack of interest. But all in all, it was a very well written informative book, good for anybody looking to learn a little something about running a successful business.
This book told the story of business like no other I had heard of before. Mr Wyly started with pretty much nothing and used his entrepreneurship instincts to make something out of it. I enjoyed being there throughout his entire business journey, both good times and bad. I liked to see that his entire career was positive, that there were some downsides. He had very little resources and he still used them to his advantage. While not everything he talked about I enjoyed, I understood mostly what he was trying to say. If yu are looking to learn about starting a good business, or just a very good life story, I suggest you read this book.
This book for the most part was enjoyable. I learned many things about making and maintaining a business. It also had some slow parts that where boring. But overall it was an interesting and informative book.
I never really got drawn into this book , but educational and knowladge wise , it said a lot . it was so easy to understand all of the situations and phases because of the fact he used all the examples and details from his own experiences .
I liked this book too, because a lot of the quotes teach some really good stuff that we can use for the rest of our lives. It teaches a lot about businesses and business ideas.
This book gave me alot of great ideas and pointws on what I might want to do when i get older. And if i come to chance that i can use the information I learned from this book, I will have a good idea what I can and could do.
sam wyly is talking about the the depression of the 1930s of how to deal with it and what to do next. the stock market crash of 1968 was the biggest incident were all people are poor and rich people are normal and the crash happened again in 2008 dealing with a loss of money
I found this book interesting to read because it gave a lot of good quotes and ideas about business and being an entrepreneur. "And i know that the only one too big to fail is America herself"
This book was extremely educational, although dull at times Wyly always had something good to tell his readers. He had a few inspirational quotes and just about everything he said seemed to make sense. He is a very knowledgable man and knows what he is talking about, I'm sure every one gained something out of this reading.
This book was not very interesting but it did have some inspirational quotes, ideas, thoughts and other interesting things. I learned about his experience as an entrepreneur and now I understand what entrepreneurs go through to keep their businesses running. It is hard to be an entrepreneur and especially starting with nothing and building up to something big like he did.
$1000 Dollars and an Idea was an easy read about the successes and failures of Sam Wyly. Wyly walks us through his entrepreneurial adventures that lead to his net worth of 1.1 billion dollars. Sam Wyly owes is success to the United States because nowhere else can someone be born in a poor community and rise to being Forbes 345th richest American. Sam Wyly may be a lot of things business owner philanthropist but most of all Sam Wyly is an entrepreneur.
While I enjoyed reading this book by Mr. Wyly I dodn't think it taught much about buisness. It read more like a book about morals than buisness. I'm hoping he will right another book about the green energy projects that he is involved in because he's quite interesting
